Ismo Eskelinen is one of the most successful classical guitarists in Finland. His album, “Solo Works by J. S. Bach”, won the Finnish Emma prize in the category of the best classical album in 2014. In this years’ concert, Eskelinen will debut his second Bach album containing suites E Minor BWV 996, C Minor 997, Preludi, Fuga & Allegro 998 and Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme BWV 645.
Eskelinen has studied under guidance of masters such as Oscar Ghiglia, Timo Korhonen and Ralf Gothoni. He has been teaching at Sibelius-Academy, Turku Conservatoire and Turku Music Academy. Eskelinen is familiar with repertoire from contemporary music all the way to masters of 16th century. He also works actively as a chamber musician, performing along with Pekka Kuusisto, Jorma Hynninen, Virpi Räisänen, Meta4, EMO-ensemble and chamber orchestras Virtuosi di Kuhmon and Avanti!.
